New Proposed Rule Changes for Medical Marijuana in IL

Today, Illinois lawmakers revealed some new changes to the state's pilot Medicinal Marijuana program. Based on feedback from the public, some of the most significant rule changes circled around patient fees and firearms. Revised preliminary rules have reduced patient application fees for medical marijuana card from $150 to $100 per year. Disabled and veterans cost was reduced as well, from $75 to $50.



In addition, the Medical Cannabis Advisory Board will now be comprised of 15 doctors, nurses, and patients. These members will be appointed by the governor and responsible for reviewing petitions for adding additional medical conditions and will convene twice per year. The original rules proposed a board of only 9 members.
