Lead Marijuana Cultivation Consultant

Ed heads up our cultivation division as a Master Gardener Level III for Quantum 9, Inc., Ed is engaged in a multitude of cannabis cultivation projects ranging from permit acquisition to marijuana cultivation facility optimization.

Ed Rosenthal is recognized worldwide as the leading authority on marijuana. For the last 35 years, he has worked as a cultivation expert, researcher, writer, teacher, and activist. His work covers marijuana gardening, law, social policy, and culture, and his books have sold over two million copies combined.

After almost four decades, Rosenthal’s Ask Ed™ column continues to be the definitive source for marijuana questions and answers from readers around the world. His best-selling titles include Marijuana Grower’s Handbook, Medical Marijuana Handbook, Why Marijuana Should Be Legal, the Big Book of Buds series, and Marijuana Garden Saver, among others.

Rosenthal views marijuana law as a crucial social issue. He serves as an expert witness on federal and state cultivation trials, and is active in promoting and developing civil regulation. He also teaches classes at Oaksterdam University and gives related seminars.

After California passed Proposition 215 in 1996, Rosenthal was deputized by the City of Oakland to cultivate marijuana for patients. In 2003 he was prosecuted by the federal government in a high-profile case.

Green Aid: The Medical Marijuana Legal Defense and Education Fund was formed to support Ed’s trial. Now Ed serves as Green Aid’s Executive Director. Green Aid works to fund and publicize precedent-setting marijuana trials, and is currently focused on the most vulnerable casualties in the war on drugs: families.

Rosenthal is a member of the International Cannabinoid Research Society (ICRS), the Garden Writers Association of America (GWA), the American Society for Horticultural Science (ASHS), and the Coalition for Cannabis Policy Reform (CCPR). He confers internationally with horticultural researchers and conducts ongoing experiments of his own to improve gardening techniques, quality, and yield.
